The Kana Workbook

This is the workbook I've been using for my hiragana and katakana, Japanese For Busy People Kana Workbook I (third edition). I'm finding this book extremely helpful and I'm taking my sweet time learning my Kana. Haha! I just finished memorizing the H's and moving on to M's later tonight. Woohooo!

The Sick Day

So I'm going much slower than I thought. The reason being is that I'm sick. Out of the blue, I got a fever. Maybe it was something I ate yesterday..... Actually I'm pretty sure it was since I threw up earlier this morning. When I was done, I felt so much better because my stomach was hurting when I went to sleep. As the day progressed, I felt like crap. I'm feeling much better than earlier today, but I'm starting to get chills again. One moment, I'm cold so I throw a blanket on and the next I'm scorching. I really hate getting sick in the summer, but I always get sick some point in the season. It stops me from eating, my head throbs so bad whenever I walk, I get chills, I'm hot, and my lips start to get dry.

Gah......

I'm so behind on what I original planned. Just by a day, but still. I have to get started on my katakana. ASAP. Yosh..... Today was a hot day, so I was just laying around. A perfect opportunity to get reacquainted with my French and to start memorize katakana. Well, I'll start these tomorrow for sure.

And I'm almost there, I'm almost there!

I love Princess and the Frog and its soundtrack. Hehe. This post is short and simply.

Anyways, I know most of the hiragana done! Progress! Progress! Progress! All I need to learn now is the R's, W's, and knowing where to place the dakuten ( ゛) and handakuten ( ゜) on the hiragana. Kyaaaaahhh!~

"Ki" and "Sa"

"Ki" from Japan About
"Sa" from Japan About

I was so confused when I bumped into a connected and unconnected "Ki" (き) and "Sa"(さ). I learned with that people tend to write the unconnected (left side) while the connected (right side) is used for typing and printing (newspaper, magazine, etc.) Abe-san says it's based on the person's personal preference, when I was first learning hiragana, I was always connecting, this time around I'll stick to the unconnected.

My hiragana studies are going well, I've already gotten down to the N's, that's over half! I'll learn the other half tomorrow and practice tonight!

Learning Hiragana

Oh, hiragana, you're so good at discouraging me to learn your syllabaries, but I'm back with a vengeance! Before learning, I should say relearning, Japanese, I think it's best to tackle the hiragana and katakana first. When I was back in Japan last year I realize not everything will be in romanji. So that's why I'm putting all my Japanese songs in its original format..... while putting romanji in parenthesis. Not only will this help me with hiragana and katakana, but also kanji. Gah, the kanji.

Introduction: Let the Journey Begin....

\(^▽^*)こんにちは(*^▽^)/

Hello there World! This is where I will blog my progress of learning the wonderful language called Japanese. I actually started self studying Japanese around late '07 or early '08, that only lasted for about half a year before I gave up. I just had no motivation for a number of reasons. The #1 reason I quite my self studying was because no one I knew was learning or knew Japanese. How much I regretted letting go of my self studies when I went to Japan last year. Ah, me and my laziness.
